While doing exercises and keeping a diet certainly helps, natural ways of building muscles have their limitations. However, before we talk about natural limits to muscle growth and fat loss let’s see how effective steroids can be for building muscle mass.
A group of scientists from Maastricht University conducted an experiment in which during a period of ten weeks or less, the average muscle gains in people doing resistance training while on anabolic steroids ranged between 4 to 11 pounds. The best result it was shown as being nearly 16 pounds of lean mass gained in only 6 weeks of weightlifting while on steroids.
If you don’t think that’s amazing, just think that many researches show that men can gain no more than 20 to 25 pounds in the first year of weightlifting and women only get half of that. Basically, with the right cycle and diet while on steroids, you could do in just 2 to 4 months what you would do in one year naturally.
Another research was one with an elite bodybuilder. He worked with the scientists for a year using steroids for the whole duration, except for 4 weeks. In the whole year he gained around 15 pounds which is about three to four times as someone natural with his experience would gain.
To better understand how much muscle can you build naturally, let’s take a look at a research done by scientists at McLean Hospital which tested over 157 male athletes, bodybuilders and strongmen. The results have shown that over half of the men have used steroids.
In one study case, 43 men were randomly picked to one of the four groups : placebo with no exercise, testosterone with no exercise, exercise only and testosterone with exercise. Of course, they were given a standardized diet.
The groups squatted and used the bench three times a week for a total of twelve sets of six reps with varying amounts of weights in each workout.
After ten weeks, the results came in and the group with testosterone steroids has grown more muscle than the group with three workouts a week but no medical enhancements. Nevertheless to say that the group with testosterone with three workouts a week have shown amazing results.
People only on steroids gain more muscle than the ones that do workouts three times a week so this study just shows the effectiveness of steroids.
But, muscle growth and strength are not the only things steroids give you, they also help you keep lean. Many studies show that testosterone directly goes into the fat cells which helps explain why high testosterone keeps fat down.
Another way to prove to people how effective steroids are is to show them female bodybuilders. They can transform a woman into a fantastic athlete.
Bottom line is, steroids are greatly effective in increasing muscle growth and strength. Even though you don’t actually need steroids, they are great in making it much easier and making the process faster.
